Software Engineer

Position Summary:

The person in this role will be able to translate needs of new features or improvements in one functional code, meeting the standards required in order to join a product, tool or need that demands a software solution.

Teamwork is essential in their day to day as well as the ability of provide support when others need it.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate customer requirements into code
  • Upgrade, repair and modify development
  • Estimate the time required for the development
  • Elucidate possible solutions and anticipate problems
  • Perform tests to validate the code and write automated tests it if necessary
  • Comply with the items of the Agile methodology (Scrum)

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have the following education, work experience, and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field/discipline preferred.
  • English intermediate (written and verbal).
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience.
  • Knowledge of the agile methodology.
  • Knowledge of some of these languages: Delphi, Oracle, PL/SQL, Javascript, PHP, HTML, Ajax, C#, C++, AngularJS
  • Can effectively cope with change and manage stressful situations
  • Proven planning, priority setting, time management, and decision making skills
  • Continued education in their given development domain

QA Engineer

Position Summary:

The main responsibility of this position is to ensure the quality of products, tools, and services developed by Sovos.  The person in this role must understand the problems and proposed solutions as well as estimate the effort to test stories. Communication and teamwork are essential in their day to day as well as the ability of provide support to other team members when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and understand any software modules being modified and design a test plan
  • Perform impact analysis
  • Write test cases
  • Create, use and maintain regression test suites/plans
  • Create test scenarios
  • Execute test cases (manual and automated)
  • Able to identify what should be automated
  • Maintain automated tests
  • Active participation in team meetings
  • Understands release process and how it affects their team.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have the following education, work experience, and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field/discipline preferred (or in progress) or related experience
  • English intermediate (written and verbal)

Business Analyst

Position Summary:

The main purpose of this role consists in ensure the compliance of Sovos’s products, services and processes.

The Business Analyst will have to analyze business applications according to government specifications to update and improve them. This role is responsible for the analysis and monitoring of the functional development of computer applications, ensuring that it is Compliance to avoid penalties.

Responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for monitoring and reviewing various regulatory agencies for changes to tax information reporting requirements and providing those requirements to the development team
  • Provide internal updates and presentations to development department about upcoming compliance changes throughout the year as well as assist our operations group answering compliance questions
  • Review regulatory rules to ensure that operations, colleagues and our products comply with regulatory requirements and corporate tax information reporting policies
  • Establish and maintain a tax compliance repository that can be utilized by both the company’s software development and operations staff
  • Assist in monitoring business activities to ensure state and federal compliance deadlines are met
  • Cultivate and foster strong working relationships with colleagues, external clients and business partners
  • Track progress of reviews of forms, publications, transmittals etc
  • Ensure cross product impact is considered

Scrum Master

Position Summary:

The Scrum Master has the goal of helping the team find a way to achieve its objectives, facilitating continuous improvement sprint by sprint, and at the same time fostering a positive work environment.

The person in this role will assist the Product Owner suggesting possible courses of action to produce better results, based on the client’s needs.

This role will have to observe what is happening on other teams to anticipate and act on potential disruptions and will collaborate on internal and external communication.

The Scrum Master has to constantly protect the agile practices within the team, and raise flags when the team starts to diverge from the good practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the removal of impediments.
  • Provide visibility of the process and results of each sprint.
  • Track the progress and help the team achieve the committed goals.
  • Coordinate all meetings: Direct and guide the team members to keep the meetings productive (daily standup, sprint planning, etc.)
  • Report all information on the progress of the sprint (including ScoreCards).
  • Help the team and the PO to communicate efficiently.
  • Keep the team focused on the sprint. Protect from external interruptions.
  • Maintain good communication with other SM to minimize impact across teams and products.
